Here's what's new on Streetplay
Dear Streetplay readers, Every time the holidays come near, it gets busy for us at Streetplay. We get to tell you about all the stuff we've done this past summer, and give you a hint of things to come. From our new affiliation with Bernie DeKoven and Junkyard Sports to helping our troops overseas bring some city-style fun to war-weary lands, there's a lot to read about! Junkyard sports are 'real' sports and games played with the wrong equipment. The focus is not on the competition but on full and active participation. Players develop new rules to best fit with the people involved and the environment in which the games will be played. Learn more about the games and the art of being a junkmaster. As December approaches, we'd like to remind you that a purchase that you make from any of the vendors' links in the Streetplay store--like Amazon, Buy.com, Apple (think "iPod"), and Dell--helps keep us online. When you use our links, we'll get a commission. So, while you're buying your presents this year, you can give Streetplay a present, too! Our new Streetplay 50/50 contest finally relates to adulthood, specifically, the workplace. What was most the fun or playful thing you were able to do at work that lifted your psyche and also helped get the job done? Tell us your story: the author of the best gets $50 and a matching donation to a children's charity. Streetplay is proud to report about what we believe to be a couple of firsts: a stickball game in Afghanistan played by some of our troops, and a new stickball "little league" in Bensonhurst. Read all about these domestic and international stickball developments. Curtis Sliwa is one of New York’s most vocal and well known personalities, and its unofficial "Commissioner of Stickball." Now he can add "ambassador" to his list of titles as he brought the game to Cuba a few months ago. Don't miss our coverage and exclusive video. Finally, as holidays approach, we believe that we should hold in our hearts a positive vision of the future. In that spirit, we hope you'll join us: let's play for peace. Learn more... Peace to all. |
