1999 Stickball Classic Staten Island competition
(STATEN ISLAND, 9/11/1999) The Staten Island competition was originally set for August 21, but a monstrous rainstorm the night before forced a postponement. This was unfortunate for the Staten Island teams, as it gave the NY Emperors, one of the great teams from the Bronx, an opportunity to come down and play. The local teams were no match for the veteran Emperors who took two games and won the right to represent Staten Island in the Stickball Classic Finals. Because the game coincided with Rosh Hashanah, we were unable to provide play-by-play coverage. If you have photos of the event, please let us know. |
