1999 Stickball Classic - Opening Ceremonies Click for full size photos Dodger Sym-Phony Band John Campi opens the Event - see note below Curtis Sliwa introduces the players and starts the game Mary Galda and the Guardian Angels Mascot One of the nice things about the event was that the all players were very gracious about signing autographs. Today's article of choice was clearly a Spaldeen. Look up at the upper right hand picture and you'll see about 20 balls being thrust at Joe Torre. In addition to Joe, joining John Campi onstage were Howard Safir, Commissioner of the Police and Tom Von Essen, Commissioner of the NYC Fire Department.
