1999 Stickball Classic From The Streets of Brooklyn
As the game was about to begin, the players realized they had to clear the
field. Cars were no match for guys ready for serious stickball competition
and the two top photos show the cooperative spirit involved in moving the cars
to the curb. On the other hand, the next photo captures the argument over
exactly which part of a remaining parked vehicle represented fair and foul
territory.
Lower shots depict the field and game. The next-to-last photo shows Johnny
Rizzo being congratulated after he hit a home run that knocked in the go-ahead
runs. The final shot is of the Brookfield Bombers and the E. 36th Street
Fanatics congratulating each other after a hard played game.
