1999 New York Stickball Classic Bronx event
(THE BRONX, 7/24/1999) Eight teams showed up to compete in the Bronx 1999
Stickball Classic. Winners played winners and after the third round and a
tough fought game, The Latinos were declared the champs.
In the pre-game, longball competition - Jason Alvarez hit the ball 340 feet,
the longest shot we've seen so far. Judging by the quality of the Latinos
stickball team and the raw power displayed by Alvarez, players representing
the other boroughs better be prepared if they want to compete with the Bronx
champs.
