The South Bronx
The Yankees might have coined the name the "Bronx Bombers," but the borough also has seen many a Spaldeen take flight off the batof some great stickball players.
In celebration of the Bronx's stickball tradition, Streetplay highlights great Bronx players and recalls the creation of "Stickball Blvd," the Bronx street named after this urban tradition.
- Bobby Ortiz - One of the great players from the legendary Bronx Knights and the man who brought stickball to the west.
- Jose Mandy Rodriguez - A great player, still active and a member of the 60 Boys, the team that kept stickball going in the Bronx in the late '70s.
