There are over 100 million Google results for the word "sports." The Webbys think we're in the top 5.
We are honored to have been nominated by the Webby Awards for Best Sports Website of 2004. We are pitted against the usual suspects in the category--TV networks and big sports organizations--but our confidence knows no bounds, and we're sure the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences will give us the nod.

The voting has just closed, and results are being tabulated. The winners will be announced on 5/12. Keep your fingers crossed! Click here to follow the action.

None of this would have been possible without the support of you, our readers. Thanks for your help and, for those of you new to Streetplay, please enjoy our site!

About the Webby Awards

The Webby Awards, the leading international honor for web sites and individual achievement in technology and creativity, nominated us on 4/20/2004 as Best Sports web site of 2004.

Hailed as "the online Oscars" by Time Magazine, The Webby Awards are determined by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a diverse organization that includes over 480 members such as musicians Beck and David Bowie, Internet inventor Vint Cerf, political columnist Arianna Huffington, and "Simpsons" creator Matt Groening. Members also include web developers, Internet experts, and technology writers and editors from publications such as The New York Times, Wired, Forbes, Spin, Fast Company, Travel + Leisure, and the Los Angeles Times. For more information, visit www.iadas.net.

"The Webby Awards honors the outstanding web sites that are setting the standards for the Internet," said Tiffany Shlain. founder of The Webby Awards.

"Streetplay's Webby Award nomination is a testament to the imagination, ingenuity, and dedication of its creators," adds Maya Draisin, Executive Director of The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. As a nominee for a Webby Award, we're also eligible to win a People's Voice Award. Voting is open to the public from April 20 to May 7, 2004 at www.webbywards.com/peoplesvoice. The winners of The Eighth Annual Webby Awards will be announced online May 12, 2004 at WebbyAwards.com.

Founded in 1996, The Webby Awards is the leading international honor for consumer Web sites and individual achievement in technology and creativity. The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences selects the nominees, winners, and presents the awards event.
