Handball players support WTC Relief
There's never a shortage of intensity on the handball courts, but the events
of this weekend featured more than the competitions. At four locations in NY
and PA handball players hosted a charity event to support the WTC disaster
fund. The activities raised over $2,000.
Wally and Los, winners of the Allentown tournament in the spring
(see Streetplay coverage),
were the champs of the PA tournament. In NYC, Dave Rojas (current Doubles
World Champion) and Herman Mendez won both the Manhattan and Bronx matches.
The level of enthusiasm and positive attitude among the players made this a
memorable event. Streetplay sends a special note of thanks to the players and
the following tournament organizers who worked to contribute to this important
cause.
PA: Joe Gritter and Miguel Torres (aka Migdog)
Manhattan: John and Jennie Ambert
Bronx: Jerry Alfaro and Jose Gomez (aka Magic)
LI: Lee Fisher of the Major League Handball Association of Long Island (MLHA).
