2000 HES One-Wall Singles by Albert Apuzzi Jr. - Nov 5, 2000 While the NYC Marathan was beginning, so was a one-day one-wall handball marathon at the HES. As the day progesses, the matches get tougher and the players get less rest between them. Spectators was treated to plenty of great matches which culminated with Robert Sostre (2000 National Singles Champion) facing off against Cesar Sala (2000 World Singles Champion). The Sostre/Sala competition provided the viewers with a rematch of this year's USHA One-Wall Nationals finals. Sostre simply didn't have enough gas left, after surviving a grueling tie-breaker against Tony Roberts, and succumbed 21-15, 21-13. For those of you asking "What does that make Cesar?", the answer is "a little bit richer, a little bit happier, and the 2000 HES Singles Champion." Note - Cesar wrote an article describing the event.
