Big Prize Draws Top Stars for Philly Competition

Handball players from Philly have been saying that they have game and can compete with New York's Big Blue crew. The Chino Sports Tournament proved that they are for real.

The tournament, held on June 24th featured Men's Doubles play and offered a substantial $1,000 prize to the winning partners. A strong New York team of Rookie Wright and Kenny Manbahal went down and won, but it was not an easy run. Rookie and Ken came back from a 14-6 deficit to overcome Ivan and Father Gilbert, two of Philly's top players 21-18.

For Rookie Wright it was some weekend. On Saturday, he split the Chino Sports Tournament Prize with Ken. On Sunday, he won the $800 NYC Big Blue Singles Championship. Rookie - hold on to that cash!

Note
There is a growing one-wall handball community in Philadelphia. Handball enthusiasts feel the sport can take off if it can gain some more press and if a few more courts are built. Streetplay supports this effort and asks Philly handball fans to keep us informed of all developments.
